On the road again...Girls Aloud
IT’S 10 years since five young singers were launched on the road to global stardom.
And yesterday, Girls Aloud celebrated their anniversary with a present for fans – a 12-date tour, a new single and an album. The five got together in London to announce the big reunion after a three-year gap.
Cheryl Cole said: “It’s nice to be together, it just feels like normal, like we didn’t have three years away.”
The tour will open in Cole’s home city of Newcastle upon Tyne on February 21 and 22. The single, Something New, will be out on November 18. And a hits album will include songs voted for by fans.
The tour will see the first shows since 2009 by Cole, 29, Kimberley Walsh, 30, Nicola Roberts, 27, Nadine Coyle, 27, and Sarah Harding, 30.
The news came as the Official Charts Company named them the biggest girl group of the century, based on 4.3 million single sales.

And Walsh summed up the reunion: “It feels comfortable to be back together – like a comfort blanket.”
