Fabio Capello awaits £6m from Abramovich for Chelsea job
FABIO CAPELLO has told Roman Abramovich that he is ready to become Chelsea’s manager.
Former England coach Capello has been sounded out by Abramovich as he searches for a permanent manager for his club for next season.
Roberto Di Matteo has already won the FA Cup in his remarkable 10 weeks in charge, but he flew into Munich last night to prepare for the Champions League final with the shadow of Capello over him.
Talks have taken place between Abramovich’s intermediaries, led by agent George Mendes, and Capello’s representatives.

He has asked for and received a report on the Cobham training base and a £6million-a-year deal could be agreed as early as next week, with further talks planned this weekend.
Capello quit as England coach in February after the FA stripped the captaincy from Chelsea skipper John Terry.
The Italian recently turned down a £17million two-year offer from Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande.
Chelsea initially approached Capello, 65, after they sacked Andre Villas-Boas in March, before they appointed Di Matteo on an interim basis, but he was not willing to take the job on a short-term basis.
Di Matteo has been given no assurances about his future, while Capello has said recently: “I am waiting for an offer that is interesting, based on the value of the team, not money.
