Airport parking costs go sky high
PARKING your car at the airport can cost you more than your flight tickets, new research has found.
Failing to book a space in advance can triple car parking costs at most UK airports.
Birmingham’s long-stay parking costs just £28 a week if pre-ordered. But that shoots up to £85 if you park on the day.
At London’s Heathrow, prices nearly double from £66 to £120 for failing to plan ahead.
This is higher than most return flights to popular destinations across Europe and North Africa.
Off-site car park deals will include shuttle transfers and these can be as quick as from the airport’s own cheapest car park
The study, by consumer magazine Which? Travel, found that private parking facilities near airports are usually better value for money for the 36 per cent of us who park at the airport when going on holiday.
A spokesman for Which? Travel said: “Off-site car park deals will include shuttle transfers and these can be as quick as from the airport’s own cheapest car park.”
