Cherie Blair spares violent yob for being religious
CHERIE Blair’s ability as a judge is to be reviewed after she let a violent thug walk free – because he is religious.
Muslim Shamso Miah, 25, was sentenced to six months in jail for breaking a man’s jaw after an argument in a bank queue in London last August.
But former Prime Minister’s wife, Cherie Blair, a devout Roman Catholic, suspended the sentence for two years at Inner London Crown Court last month, telling him: “I am going to suspend this sentence based on the fact you are religious man.”
The National Secular Society have now made a complaint to the Office for Judicial Complaints.
Chairman Terry Sanderson said: “This is a very worrying case of discrimination that appears to show that religious people get different treatment in Cherie Blair’s court.”
The OJC said they would be investigating the complaint.
