Debate: Are our war heroes disrepected
BLUNDERING Gordon Brown was today forced to apologise to the mother of a British soldier killed in Afghanistan after he mis-spelt her son's name in a letter of condolence.
The Prime Minister, who yesterday disrespected our war heroes by apparently failing to bow at the Cenotaph, telephoned Jacqui Janes after learning of her distress over the hand-written letter.
Mr Brown told her he meant "no offence" by the gaffe-strewn letter, which began "Dear Mrs James" and included a mistake in soldier Jamie's name that was hastily scribbled over.
ARE THE DAYS WHEN BRITAIN RESPECTED ITS WAR HEROES OVER?
DO YOU REMEMBER WHEN OUR SOLDIERS WERE HIGHLY-RESPECTED MEMBERS OF SOCIETY?
WHAT DO YOU THINK HAS CHANGED SINCE WW2?
IS BROWN'S GAFFE ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF HOW MANNERS AND RESPECT ARE NO LONGER IMPORTANT VALUES IN MODERN BRITAIN?
