A HUGE explosion on a motorway near northern Italy’s Bologna airport has killed two people and left at least 70 injured, some with serious burns.

Shock pictures have emerged on social media of a huge ball of fire and a column of thick smoke rising from the scene.
The explosion was caused when a tanker truck carrying explosive materials crashed in a traffic accident.
The news agency ANSA said the tanker was carrying liquefied petroleum gas.
And video has also showed cars on fire at a Peugeot dealership beneath the motorway.

Italian media reported that many of the injured were hit by debris and glass after the explosion.
Firefighters have since extinguished the blaze.
Police said in a statement on Twitter: "Due to an accident on the highway, an explosion occurred resulting in a fire at Via Marco Emilio Lepido.
"Circulation compromised, not only on the motorway, but also in the Borgo Panigale area."
