Four-year-old boy from Manchester dies after being crushed by iron gate on holiday
A FOUR-YEAR-OLD boy from Manchester has died after an iron gate fell on him while on holiday in Italy, according to reports.
Angelo Quirino, four, died while visiting family near Rome
Angelo Quirino is understood to have been visiting family near Rome, Italy's capital, when the tragedy struck on Saturday afternoon.
He reportedly suffered injuries to his head and collarbone after the sliding iron gate fell on him while he played football.
According to Italian media, the tragic boy was on holiday with his mother, eight-year-old brother and younger sister at the time.
Horrified relatives and neighbours ran to help after hearing screams when the 200kg (450lb) sliding iron gate toppled onto Angelo.
Medics are said to have tried to resuscitate the youngster, who was due to start school next month, for more than 45 minutes.
The family were staying in a rented property in the residential district of Marechiaro, the Manchester Evening News reported.

A one friend of the family told the newspaper: "I feel sick. It absolutely breaks my heart.
"I have a son the same age and Angelo would have been going to school in a couple of weeks."
Local police have cordoned off the villa as the investigation into Angelo's tragic death continues.

His father is reported to have taken the first flight from Manchester to Italy when he learned the shocking news.
The family are believed to have moved to north Manchester in 2015, having previously lived in Anzio, a city in the Lazio region of Italy.
Angelo and his family were three days into their trip to Marechiaro at the time of the incident.
