Notre Dame attack video: Moment Paris police rush to Cathedral as 2,000 trapped inside
POLICE were captured rushing to the scene after gunshots were heard at Notre Dame, a famous cathedral in Paris.
French police rush to incident in Notre Dame
French police confirmed they were attending an incident at the cathedral as the public have been warned to stay away.
Tourists and worshippers were witnessed rushing away from the scene in the centre of the French capital.
In the footage, police officers can be seen rushing to the cathedral following the incident.
Visitors inside the cathedral tweeted their families saying they were trapped inside the historic building.

According to local media, police have shot a man who attempted to attack an officer with a hammer outside the cathedral.
He is now in hospital, police confirmed.
About a couple of thousand of people were trapped inside, crouching down between the pews, a British witness said.
Police told everybody in the cathedral to raise their arms to show they were not armed.
Paris Police's SGP Unit confirmed one of their officers was "slightly wounded in the head by a hammer blow" and was taken to hospital.

The streets surrounding Notre Dame were cleared by officers.
A witness outside the cathedral, said: “I heard two explosions.”
One person tweeted: “So we are trapped in Notre Dame Cathedral. Something is happening outside we don't know what it is. Police sirens can be heard #NotreDame”.
Paris Police, tweeted: “A police intervention is in progress in the square in front of Our Lady Intervention, avoid the area.”
