A SHOT man lies motionless in a US hospital as a judge at his bedside charges him with murdering a British doctor and his fiancee.

A lawyer entered not guilty pleas on behalf of Bampumim Teixeira, 30, who was shot by police after he was allegedly found in Dr Richard Field’s luxury Boston penthouse.
Dr Field, 49, had texted a friend, saying there was a gunman in the property on Friday night.
Minutes later, police found the bodies of anaesthetists Dr Field and his fiancee Dr Lina Bolanos, 38, tied up and with their throats cut.

Police found a backpack in the apartment containing jewellery, a knife and an imitation firearm.
Teixeira, who had been a security guard at the complex, was taken to hospital for treatment to his wounds. Tributes poured in for Dr Field today.
The London-born, former Sheffield University student worked for North Shore Pain Management who described him as a visionary with “tireless devotion”.

One patient wrote on Facebook: “He was an amazing doctor who was so kind and compassionate.”
Colombian-born Dr Bolanos was a paediatric anaesthetist at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Hospital and an instructor at Harvard Medical School.
Teixeira had recently been freed from jail after serving nine months for a bank robbery.
