Gibson homes for hurricane victims
Mexican officials have presented victims of Hurricane Stan with 109 homes that were partly funded by a donation from filmmaker Mel Gibson.
Gibson filmed his 2006 Mayan-language movie Apocalypto in the Gulf coast state of Veracruz.
He donated one million US dollars to replace storm-damage homes in Veracruz and in neighbouring Chiapas state.
The office of Veracruz Governor Fidel Herrera said the government and a private charity pitched in the rest of the cost of the homes in the town of San Andres Tuxtla. He did not say how much each cost.
Stan struck Central America and southern Mexico in October, 2005.
The storm damaged 40,000 homes in Mexico and killed 71 people in Chiapas. It left 654 dead in Guatemala, and 71 dead in El Salvador.
