Kim Jong-un could launch nukes BEFORE next US election, warns security chief
NORTH Korea could develop the capabilities to launch a nuclear missile strike on the US within Donald Trump’s first term, a top defence chief has warned.
Kim Jong-un could nuke the US within Donald Trump's first term
US Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly said the President is dealing with the threat from crazed dictator Kim Jong-un “before he starts his second term”.
The chilling insight comes amid heightened tensions between Washington and Pyongyang, with some senior US politicians calling for a pre-emptive strike on the hermit state.
Pyongyang could produce nuclear missiles capable of reaching the US within months
Mr Kelly added that North Korea posed a “grave risk” to the US, comparing the threat posed by the country to that fronted by Russia.
He said: “Clearly there are countries on the planet that have a lot of nuclear weapons that would overwhelm any defence that we would deploy, Russia, as an example.

This very erratic, unstable regime, may soon have the capability to harm us directly
“But the minute North Korea gets a missile that could reach the United States, puts a weapon on that missile, nuclear weapon, the instant that happens, this country is at grave risk.”
Mr Kelly’s chilling warning echoes comments made by former US ambassador to the UN, John Bolton.
The belligerent North has been branded a 'grave threat'
Mr Bolton said Kim’s dictatorship could be soon ready to harm the US “directly”.
He added: “The North Koreans, this very erratic, unstable regime, may soon have the capability to harm us directly.
The North is believed to have performed one failed test since the tyrant’s stark claim.
But now Donald Trump has demanded the evacuation of more than 200,000 American citizens from South Korea as part of a new military drill.
