On Sunday, Mr Trump called and thanked the commanders from two US destroyers - the USS Porter and USS Ross.
Andria Slough and Russell Caldwell have been pictured receiving the surprise call, in which the billionaire praised the military officials for their quick response, and thanked them for their professionalism.

He later thanked the Navy in a tweet Sunday evening, linking to the Navy’s press release on the phone calls.
The calls followed Trump’s tweet on Saturday in which he praised those who carried out the missile strikes.
He said: “Congratulations to our great military men and women for representing the United States, and the world, so well in the Syria attack.”
The missile strike, which saw 59 Tomahawk missiles launched at a Syrian airbase on April 6 , came in retaliation for a deadly chemical weapons attack the US claims was carried out by Syrian President Bashar Assad’s government.
Dozens were killed in the deadly assault, including children - although nine civilians were later killed in the US air strike.

The strikes have been met with a mixed response, but have been condemned by the likes of Russia who claim the attack breached international law.
And UK foreign secretary Boris Johnson has sparked fears the attack could provoke World War Three after he claimed Mr Trump "could bomb Syria again".
But he also praised the US leader for showing “a resolve and willingness that has been sadly missing in the last few years”.
