AN EXPLOSION in Bangkok has injured two people when a bomb hidden in a bin went off in front of the former headquarters of the Government Lottery Officer.

The bomb was hidden in a bin in the Thai capital and it exploded around 8pm local time.
Two employees of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration were injured and sent to Vajira Hospital.
The explosion happened on Ratchademneon Avenue in Bangkok.
Police have said that a ping pong bomb caused the explosion
The police have described the explosive to be a ‘ping pong bomb’, which was detonated by low-yield gunpowder.
The bomb exploded on the eve of Thailand’s enactment of the new constitution, which is a public holiday.
Disposal officials and police were at the scene and reportedly discovered another homemade bomb in a bin in the area.

Ratchadamnoen Avenue is a historic road in the Phra Nakhol and Dust Districts of Bangkok.
The king used the road as a route for grand royal parades.
