DEATH TO AMERICA: Iran president vows to fight back against Donald Trump threats
THE President of Iran has vowed to strongly confront "warmongering policies" as thousands of Iranians chanting "death to America" took to the streets to protest against threats from Donald Trump.

President Hassan Rouhani's warning came as hundreds of thousands of took to the streets of Iran on Friday to swear allegiance to the clerical establishment following US President Donald Trump's warning that he had put the Islamic Republic "on notice".
Many even carried “Death to America” banners and effigies of Mr Trump, as a military police band played traditional Iranian songs.

And some marchers held aloft a giant Iranian flag and banner which read: "Thanks Mr Trump for showing the real face of America."
The protest was held to coincide with Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution which toppled the US-backed Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.

And leading religious and political figures, including President Hassan Rouhani, urged citizens to join the rally to "show their unbreakable ties with the Supreme Leader and the Islamic Republic".
Speaking at the Azadi Square he said: "Some inexperienced figures in the region and America are threatening Iran.
“They should know the language of threats has never worked with Iran.
“We are not seeking tension but we are united before bullying and any threat."
America and Trump cannot do a damn thing
Iran's most powerful authority Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei also called on Iranians to take part in the demonstrations to show Iran was not frightened of American "threats" on Tuesday.
A young Iranian man told state TV: "America and Trump cannot do a damn thing. We are ready to sacrifice our lives for our leader Khamenei.

Some protesters carried pictures of Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and British Prime Minister Theresa May with the caption "Death to the Devil Triangle".
However others took to social media such as Twitter and Facebook used the hashtag #LoveBeyondFlags to urge an end to the traditional burning of US flags during the anniversary.
They also thanked Americans for opposing Mr Trump's executive order banning migrants from seven mainly Muslim countries, including Iran.

And some marchers in the crowds carried banners that read: "Thanks to American people for supporting Muslims".
The march comes after President Donald Trump said Rouhani "better be careful" after the Iranian leader was quoted as saying: “Anyone who speaks to Iranians with the language of threats regret it."
Last week Donald Trump put Iran "on notice" in reaction to a January 29 Iranian missile test and imposed fresh sanctions on individuals and entities.

Iran insisted it will not halt its missile programme.
Relations between the two have deteriorated since Mr Trump took office following his controversial travel ban and sanctions imposed after Iran's missile test.
It adds to concerns over the future of a deal with Iran, which was brokered by Barack Obama, that requires Iran to heavily restrict its nuclear programme.
Most of the sanctions imposed on Iran were lifted last year under the deal.
