Columbia extradites drugs suspect
Colombia has extradited one of its most notorious drug trafficking suspects to the United States to stand trial.
Diego Montoya was put on a Drugs Enforcement Agency plane bound for Miami.
When soldiers captured him in September 2007 at a remote farmhouse, the man, known as Don Diego, was on the FBI's list of 10 most wanted fugitives.
Colombian police chief General Oscar Naranjo said Montoya's extradition marks the end of the bloody Norte del Valle cartel -- successor to the Medellin and Cali cartels.
Montoya is charged in two US courts with drug trafficking, money laundering and murder.
Colombian authorities say he sent tons of cocaine to the United States and is responsible for at least 1,500 killing in a career spanning two decades.
