President Joachim Gauck appeared startled and embarrassed in the video clip which captured the moment he found himself unstuck after his handshake was snubbed by the young female.
Standing in line with other students from the Theodor Heuss School, the female student drew her hand away and placed it on her chest as he tried to shake it.

This is an insult to Saudi Arabia
The row between Germany and Islamic accessories was sparked by Angela Merkel who proposed to ban the burqa, a full length garment in comparison to the hijab headscarf.
A week later, German minister Ursula von-der-Leyer refused to wear the hijab during her state visit to Saudi Arabia.
The German President was on a trip congratulating a school for helping migrants integrate
Speaking to an Iranian Newspaper, she said: “No woman in my delegation will be required to wear the abaya, as the right to choose one’s attire is a right shared by men and women equally.”
Shortly after von-der-Leyer’s meeting, the Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman al Saud strongly condemned her actions on twitter.
He tweeted: “The German Defence Minister: not wearing the hijab in Saudi was deliberate. This is an insult to Saudi Arabia!”

The President visited the school to praise their work helping migrant children learn the German language and culture, ignoring the study published by a sociologist, encouraging Germans to learn the cultures of migrants to ease integration.
Annette Treiber, the sociologist said: “Germany is an immigration country,” with no overarching dominant culture, every asylum seeker, immigrant and refugee has the right to claim they are “indigenous” to Germany.

A sociologist said that instead of migrants integrating themselves into German culture, German’s should learn to integrate themselves into the cultures of newly-arrived migrants.
Other educational experts championed the Treiber’s call and specifically asked German nationals to learn Arabic, so migrants can successfully assimilate themselves into the local culture.
