Nuclear waste, state secrets, aliens? Huge convoy moving mystery object sparks speculation
A MYSTERIOUS object was transported by police in the dead of night sparking mass intrigue about what warranted such a convoy.
What is this MASSIVE mystery object escorted by police?
The convoy, reportedly the second of its kind in five months, has led to internet speculation and strange suggestions over the contents.
A YouTube user, called somiskid, captured the footage of the lorry carrying a huge mysterious object.
A giant box in the middle lorry of the convoy appears to be carrying a huge metal box, escorted by a police car as well as three lorries and a service vehicle late at night.
The video filmed on Tuesday shows how the convoy held up traffic as it rolled through Saticoy in California.
Suspicions raised over the transporting of a large box in the US
A nuclear flask. It is a shipping container that is used to transport active nuclear materials between nuclear power station and spent fuel reprocessing facilities
Somiskid captioned the video ‘What is this thing round 2!!??' after spotting and filming a similar object five months previously.
The film maker said his latest video was captured at about 10.30pm on Tuesday as the convoy rolled down East Ventura.
Some YouTube users claimed the box could contain state secrets or nuclear waste, or even "the raptor cage from Jurassic Park".
One said: "A nuclear flask. It is a shipping container that is used to transport active nuclear materials between nuclear power station and spent fuel reprocessing facilities."
Online a mystery-busting YouTube user said it was a power transformer
But some users sought to clear up the mystery.
Kevin E said: "It is a power transformer being moved to the Mission Rock Energy Center currently under construction in Saticoy.
"Large pieces are often moved late at night to mitigate their impact on traffic. Since being uploaded the clip has been viewed more than 9,000 times."
A police car and other lorries accompanied the giant crate likened to Jurassic Park cage
But the clarification did nothing to stop suspicion.
And another joker added: "Anytime the government needs to transport some super top secret technology, they just need to place it inside the housing of a large transformer.
"Of course they could just throw it in the back of a standard semi trailer, but what fun would that be?"
