Mr Trump has been criticised in the past for his posts on Twitter but mentioned in the presidential debates that he was “not un-proud” of the way he tweets.
The social media site has taken action against users in the past, including British journalist Milo Yiannopoulos who was given a “permanent suspension” in July this year from the site after being accused of leading a campaign of abuse against Ghostbuster actor Leslie Jones.

Mr Yiannopolous said at the time: “Like all acts of the totalitarian regressive left, this will blow up in their faces, netting me more adoring fans. We’re winning the culture war, and Twitter just shot themselves in the foot.
“This is the end for Twitter. Anyone who cares about free speech has been sent a clear message: you’re not welcome on Twitter.”
Mr Yiannopoulos once likened rape culture to Harry Potter, which he described as “both fantasy”.
The other big social networking site Facebook, however, has indicated that they would not take action against Mr Trump, even if he did contravene the site’s rules.
