World's shortest international flight lasting just EIGHT minutes launched
THE world's shortest international flight lasting just EIGHT minutes has been launched by an Austrian airline.
The world's shortest international flight lasts eight minutes
The plane journey by People's Air whisks passengers from St Gallen in Switzerland to Friedrichshafen in Germany - just 13 miles away across Lake Constance.
Alternatively, travellers could drive 40 miles between the two airports by car, or sit through a two-hour lakeside train ride.
But the trip, which costs £35 for a one-way ticket has also attracted criticism for the disproportionate amount of fuel it consumes for such a short trip, and the noise pollution during the two take-offs and landings per day.
Until now, the world's shortest international flight was a ten minute journey between the Austrian capital Vienna and the Slovakian capital Bratislava, launched by the low-cost Austrian airline FlyNiki.
