RUSSIA has a “culture of warfare” and is preparing for a global conflict with the West, a Moscow politician has told Newsnight.

Stepan Zotov, who is part of the Motherland Party, has been training teenagers in conflict as part of “military patriotic education”.
Zotov, who is loyal to the Kremlin, admitted that the country is preparing for conflict with the West.

He told the BBC programme: “Absolutely yes of course, we are preparing for the confrontation with the West but there is also a confrontation on culture and information.
“This warrior spirit is one of the principle parts of Russian civilisation.”

The Russian also claimed his country has “a culture of heroes and warriors. It is a culture of warfare – whether we like it or not”.
Zotov – who helps youngsters train with “combat weapons and live ammunition” – said Russian people did “like the West, but it did not do us any good”.

He added: “Of course it is possible of a conflict with the West. Look at Ukraine, this is a conflict between Russia an the West.
“Ukrainian army has Western agreements, Western weapons and Western ideology.”
Alexander Dugin, part of the Eurasian Movement, which claims Russia is a unique civilisation, blasted the US and said it is not the world “master”.

The Motherland Party member has helped train youngsters in combat
He said: "If the United States does not want to start a war, you should recognise that United States is not any more a unique master.
“And with the situation in Syria and Ukraine, Russia says, 'No you are not any more the boss’.
“That is the question of who rules the world. Only war could decide really."
