Oscar Pistorius has been given his own personal upgrades in prison after complaints
The Paralympic star complained about poor exercise and bathing facilities during his time in jail for shooting dead his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
Double amputee Pistorius, 28, was also given a new bed and allowed to cook for himself after claiming he was in danger of being poisoned.
Extraordinary details of his life at Kgosi Mampuru II prison in his home city of Pretoria, South Africa, came as it appears he will face another four months behind bars.
Parole officers said they may need more time to consider a date for his release from custody into supervised house detention.
Prison visitors claimed the sprinter, who is serving five years for the manslaughter of Miss Steenkamp, had been given preferential treatment.
He complained that he wanted a bath
Musariet Mentoor, manager at South Africa’s independent judicial inspectorate, said: “He complained that he wanted a bath. They built one in his cell. He also had a complaint about his bed. And they replaced his bed.”
Pistorius is allowed to live in the hospital wing and has his own cell and lavatory away from the tough, overcrowded jail’s other inmates.
Mr Mentoor added that all well-known prisoners are considered for isolation because of the threat of revenge attacks.
Pistorius was jailed last October after shooting model Reeva, 29, through his bathroom door.
He claimed that her death was an accident and at the time thought she was an intruder.
