British man stabbed by taxi driver on Ibiza holiday
A BRITISH man is in hospital after being stabbed by a taxi driver in Ibiza.
Holidaymaker Grant Sommerville, 22, was knifed in the chest after catching a cab from a beach club where top DJ Carl Cox was performing.
A 29-year-old local is being questioned after being arrested early yesterday. He told officers he acted in self-defence after a row about the fare.
Mr Sommerville, thought to be from Scotland, was treated by paramedics on the pavement before being taken to hospital with a single stab wound.
His condition was described as “serious” when he was admitted but he was moved to a ward after improving.
Police confirmed the arrest and released a picture of the weapon, a multi-use tool knife.
A spokesman said: “The victim was a young Brit aged 22 who had been stabbed in the chest. He was with two friends when officers arrived.”
