A nine-month-old baby girl is fighting for her life today after her leg was blasted off in a brutal strike on Ukraine by Vladimir Putin’s forces. A woman pensioner, 65, and a man were killed in the same “cynical” Russian attack on Volodymyr Zelensky’s home city, Kryvyi Rih.

A total of eight civilians were killed and 11 wounded across the Dnipropetrovsk region in savage new strikes after Putin ended a three-day partial ceasefire. Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the Kryvyi Rih Military Administration, said: “A small child, a nine-month-old baby girl, had her leg torn off.” Mr Zelensky slammed the “cynical and utterly senseless Russian drone strike on a regular residential building in Kryvyi Rih.

“Two elderly people are known to have died. Their nine-month-old granddaughter is in the hospital with serious injuries.

“Our doctors are doing everything possible to save her life.”

He called for support in tackling bloodthirsty Putin.

“After the end of a partial three-day ceasefire, Russia continues to kill and maim Ukrainians,” he said. “Pressure on it should not be weakened in any way.”

Despite the horror attack, Mr Zelensky announced that Ukraine had the momentum in the war: “Overall, Ukraine’s positions right now – on the frontline, in our long-range sanctions, and in our joint results with partners – are the strongest they have been in years."

“We must maintain this level and deliver results. That is exactly what we are doing.”

In Donetsk region, a Ukrainian robot carry a 300kg load of explosives was seen exploding a huge building in which Putin invaders had taken shelter in Kostiantynivka. The loss is a blow to Putin, who has ordered his troops to seize the 20% of Donetsk region still in Ukraine’s hands by September.

Ukraine also sent off explosions in Taman port close to the strategic £3billion Crimean Bridge. The key Nurlino Linear Production and Dispatch Station in Bashkortostan, a major Russian oil pipeline operated by Transneft, was on fire after a Ukrainian strike.

Smoke was also seen over air defence positions in the major resort of Sochi, where Putin is rebuilding a palace.

However, Russia also staged massive attacks on Odesa and Ukraine’s second city, Kharkiv.
