Donald Trump issues bizarre official statement ranting about ‘woke’ Oscars
DONALD TRUMP has issued a statement blasting the Academy Awards for being "politically correct and boring".
Donald Trump says he is ‘looking at’ a 2024 presidential run
Writing from his Office of the Former President, set up after he left the White House in January, Mr Trump mocked the Oscar’s for low ratings. Yesterday’s award show was praised for its diversity, but suffered its lowest ever ratings on record.
In an official statement, Mr Trump said the Academy Awards will “only get worse”.
He said: “What used to be called The Academy Awards, and is now called the ‘Oscars’ - a far less important and elegant name - had the lowest Television Ratings in recorded history, even much lower than last year, which set another record low.
“If they keep up with the current ridiculous formula, it will only get worse - If that’s possible.
“Go back 15 years, look at the formula they then used, change the name back to THE ACADEMY AWARDS, don’t be so politically correct and boring, and do it right.
“ALSO, BRING BACK A GREAT HOST.”

Mr Trump then claimed those behind the Oscars “spend all their time thinking about how to promote the Democrat Party, which is destroying our country”.
It followed the 93rd annual award ceremony reportedly recording its lowest ever ratings, with only 9.85 million viewers.
The figure marks a massive drop of 58.3 percent from last year's ceremony, which had around 23.6 million viewers.
US Republicans and Conservatives have claimed the low ratings are due to political statements and speeches, whereas others suggest low figures are due to less people watching movies due to the coronavirus pandemic.
While serving as President, Mr Trump annually criticised the award show and mocked the South Korean film Parasite winning best picture last year.
Speaking at a MAGA rally, he asked: “What the hell was that all about?
“We’ve got enough problems with South Korea with trade. On top of that, they give them best movie of the year.
“Was it good? I don’t know.”
In 2019, Mr Trump claimed the awards were on hard times because audiences got tired of people “making fools of themselves” on stage by disrespecting the people who won the 2016 election.
In 2018, he tweeted: "Lowest rated Oscars in HISTORY”.
It comes as an NBC News poll showed Mr Trump is losing support from Republican voters.
For the first time since July 2019, those who supported the Republican Party outnumbered those who supported Mr Trump, according to the survey.
It holds that 44 percent of Republicans say they support the former President more than they support the Republican Party, down from 50 percent.
The poll was carried out by Hart Research Associates and Public Opinion Strategies between April 17 and April 20, and surveyed 1,000 adults.
