Jussie Smollett update: Police reveal new footage of Empire actor following alleged attack
VIDEO from inside Jussie Smollett’s apartment on the night of his arrest has been released by Chicago police.
The body camera footage shows Mr Smollett in the aftermath of the alleged hate crime attack with what appears to be a noose around his neck. Mr Smollett reported that on January 29, two men attacked him by throwing a noose around his neck, while also shouting homophobic and racial slurs at the Empire actor. In the newly released video, the police can be seen entering Mr Smollett’s apartment where they find the actor standing with the noose around his neck.
Upon entering the apartment, an officer can be heard saying: “Do you want to take it off?”
Following that, the actor appears to remove the noose while also insisting that he left it on so that the officers could see.
Mr Smollett appears to then respond: “Yeah I do.
“I just wanted you to see.

“There’s bleach on me. They poured bleach on me.”
The Empire actor asks whether he is being videoed and recorded, which he then asks if the recording can be ceased.
Following the attack, Mr Smollett had allegedly received criticism after there had been no video surveillance footage of the alleged attack.
In the wake of that revelation, Chicago police accused the actor of staging the alleged attack.
