Fishermen survive shark-strewn waters for one month in icebox
TWO Thai fishermen floated for 25 days across shark-filled waters in a large ice box after their boat sank.
They were spotted by coastal patrol on Saturday and helicoptered to hospital, where they made a quick recovery despite hunger and dehydration.
Officials from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority said that no search for the other 18 crew members was planned.
The men were picked up by a coastal patrol in the Torres Strait, a stretch of ocean between Australia and Papua New Guinea where sharks are very common.
Immigration officers and police will now question the fishermen, both in their 20s, as to how they survived so long with no food or water.
