'Fetch a sirloin for the dog' Facebook page of Waitrose shoppers' conversations goes viral
YOU may need to take this hilarious viral sensation with a pinch of the poshest salt.
A Facebook page which lists shoppers' conversations 'Overheard in Waitrose' has become an internet hit receiving more than 83,000 likes in a few days.
Highlights of the eavesdropped soundbites include a child asking if Lego has a 'silent T like Merlot' and posh shoppers laughing about how rich they are.
Whether these posts are real conversations or just the Facebook page poking fun at how upmarket Waitrose is is another matter entirely.
Daddy does lego have a silent 'T', like merlot?
The Facebook page was set up in April 14 and despite sharing just over a dozen posts it has so far garnered 83,188 likes.
The most popular post, which has more than 8,000 likes, said: "Daddy does lego have a silent 'T', like merlot?"
While another said: "Gosh you have to be millionaires to shop here. Just as well we are!"
And one of the most recent posts said: "No Jennie you can't only serve olives at your tenth birthday party...now go and fetch a sirloin for the dog."
An upmarket shopper was also believed to have said: "Darling, do we need parmesan for both houses?"
Another post said: "Luciano behave! Children these days... I blame the au pairs."
The 'Overheard in Waitrose' page said it publishes "words often heard permeating the aisles of Britain's poshest supermarket."
It follows in the footsteps of the 'Women Who Eat on Tubes' Facebook group which went viral this week.
A Waitrose spokesman said: "It's nice to see people having a bit of fun."
