Twitter users confuse IT consultant for the real Robin van Persie
IT was a case of mistaken identity as over-excited Manchester United fans wishing to congratulate Robin van Persie inadvertently sent twitter messages to a 52-year-old IT consultant in India.
Ravi Visvesvaraya Sharada Prasad was deluged with messages from United fans who have been celebrating the club's 20th domestic title success.
Prasad shares the same twitter handle- @rvp as the United forward, however a fundamental difference is that Van Persie's handle contains the word official in it.
The mix-up created some jovial responses from fans.
One fan tweeted: "Congratulations to @RVP you fully deserved it. Incredible since you are a part time footballer & info tech consultant. #CHAMPIONS2013."
Another mimicked a football chant, tweeting: "He consults when he wants, He consults when he wants, Ravi Visvesvara Prasad, he consults when he wants, dont you @rvp," tweeted another, imitating a football chant."
Prasad failed to see the funny side, as he has had 10,000 mentiones in the past 24 hours.
