Tiddler? No, it’s a whopper
THIS little fish may look like a tiddler.
But it is massive in the stickleback world.
Yesterday angler Craig Birchall, 23, was celebrating landing Britain’s largest three-spined stickleback.
It weighed just under a third of an ounce (8.8g) clearly beating the previous record of a quarter of an ounce, set in 1988. Craig, a palletiser operator, landed his catch at a private fishery near his home in Scunthorpe, Lincs. After weighing it, he returned it to the water.
He has applied to the British Records Fish Committee to have his achievement recognised. He said “There are records for all British specimen fish. If it gets accepted it will be brilliant.”
