Study reveals surprising tool Brits still use to settle household arguments
Brits still use this one thing to decide who has to take the washing out and what to watch on TV.

More than half of UK adults have used a simple coin flip to settle household arguments—from deciding who does the chores to picking the evening's takeaway. A new poll of 2,000 adults reveals that for many, the trusty penny remains the go-to tool for ending domestic stand-offs and minor dilemmas.
While a third of people most commonly use a coin toss to decide who goes first in a game or activity, it's often also used to settle everyday household squabbles such as who does the washing up, who should put the bins out, or who should walk the dog.
When it comes to the call, 'Heads' is by far the most popular choice, with 44% always opting for it, compared to only 19% who regularly pick 'Tails'. However, nearly a third (31%) change their choice based on their mood.
A quarter of Brits confessed they secretly hope the coin lands the 'wrong' way. This is because the 'wrong' result helps to confirm what they really wanted to do in the first place.
The research was commissioned by Foxy, which teamed with Denise Van Outen and Duncan James who faced a series of challenges where their fate was decided by a coin flip.
The poll found 49% consider a coin flip to be a fair way to settle a dispute. Although 37% of those who tossed a coin to come to an agreement, ended up disagreeing with the outcome.
If they didn’t like the way it came out, 39% will simply flip again until they get the outcome they want.
Sara Jolly from the online gaming site, which has recently launched its Foxy Dollars, added: “Life is full of little choices and sometimes it's fun to add a playful twist. We encourage people to ‘get their Fox on’ and use a coin flip to bring entertainment and spontaneity to everyday moments and routine decisions.”
