The renowned French astrologer Nostradamus is famed for his prophetic insights into future events.

His predictions for the coming year are no less chilling. The 16th-century seer foretold a series of alarming occurrences in cryptic quatrains, which encapsulate global outcomes.

Many of these prophecies were published in his 1555 book 'The Prophecies', containing an impressive 942 quatrains, according to the Times Of India.

Seven months, great war

One particular quatrain says: "Seven months great war, people dead through evil/ Rouen, Evreux the King will not fail.", reports the Mirror.

This verse could easily be interpreted as referring to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Some argue that Nostradamus has previously predicted warfare, with his phrase "Within two cities, there will be scourges the like of which was never seen" allegedly foreseeing the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the United States during World War Two.

A great swarm of bees

This prediction from Nostradamus is somewhat more fantastical: "The great swarm of bees will arise by the night ambush". Some speculate this event may transpire next year, as the line is associated with the number 26.

However, the symbolism of the bees remains ambiguous, as it seems improbable that a massive swarm of bees could inflict significant damage via an "ambush".

Celebrity struck down by thunderbolt

According to the 26th verse of Century I, Nostradamus declares "the great man will be struck down in the day by a thunderbolt".

The great man could refer to anyone from royalty to a world leader or celebrity.

However, what remains evident is that this individual will be hit by lightning during daylight hours.

Perhaps we can anticipate a lightning storm disrupting a red carpet event in 2026?

Switzerland will be drenched in blood

This prediction is particularly gruesome - and can be traced to a specific modern-day location.

His ominous verse states: "Because of the favour that the city will show... the Ticino will overflow with blood.."

Switzerland's picturesque Italian-speaking region faces a bloody meteorological outlook.

The blood might represent a mass casualty event, a plague engulfing the area, or some form of natural catastrophe.

Critics argue that Nostradamus composed his works in Middle French using intentionally ambiguous Latin expressions.

Furthermore, numerous manuscripts, transcription errors and varied interpretations of his writings throughout the centuries make it challenging to determine what the prophet truly intended.
