UK cold weather maps turn blue as -3C Arctic blast smashes Britain

Cold weather conditions are likely to blast parts of the UK as the temperature levels plunge to -5C bringing in frost to some areas. Weather maps from WXCharts show that northern parts of the country may witness freezing conditions on October 16.

According to the weather maps, the entire country will be blasted by an Arctic blast with even southern areas witnessing temperatures around 1-2C.

Areas around Aberdeen and Inverness are likely to see some flurries as the maps have turned white indicating the possibility of snowy conditions.

The shivering condition comes as the country battles through heavy rain and thunderstorms. It is reported that Ex-Hurricane Isaac, now a tropical storm, is heading toward the North Atlantic and may creep close enough to rattle the UK.

Torrential deluges last week left swathes of central, southern, and eastern England under feet of floodwater.

The fresh weather maps suggest that the cold temperatures will begin to set in from October 15 and may stay through the next day.

Separately, the Met Office’s long-range forecast for October 6 and 15 reads: “A broad low-pressure system west of the UK will drift eastwards across the UK through Sunday and through the first part of next week.

“This will bring widely unsettled conditions, with spells of rain or showers, heavy and persistent at times, and strong southwesterly winds.

“England and Wales will probably see bulk of this rain, especially across higher ground.

"Meanwhile, across Scotland and Northern Ireland, northeasterly winds could become rather strong, and although rain and showers are still likely, it will also turn colder here.

“Into the second half of next week and the start of the following week, drier weather is signalled across the north, while unsettled weather will likely continue in the south, but certainly turning cooler quite widely across the UK in general.”
