UK Weather in pictures: Bank holiday weekend kicks off with rain
THE BANK Holiday weekend has arrived along with heavy rain and blustery winds. Pictures show Britons making the most of the British summer at festivals in Reading, Leeds, and Oxfordshire.
Rain drenched most of Britain on the first day of the Bank Holiday weekend.
Following the recent hot spells which saw Britain bask in temperatures up to 32 degrees, the Bank Holiday weekend looks set to be a bit of a washout.
The Met Office warns: “Saturday will start with sunshine and showers, with a low risk of thunder.”
“Sunday will be wet and windy, however it will become mostly dry and bright on Monday.”
Pictures show festival goers in Oxfordshire, Reading and Leeds enjoying themselves despite the heavy downpours on Friday.
Britons were seen donning pack-a-macs and plastic ponchos to keep the rain at bay across the country.
Photographers captured people sheltering from the rain on the Main Stage at the 2018 Reading Festival where Fall Out Boy, The Kooks and The Wombats will perform.
In West Yorkshire at the Leeds Festival, Britons clad in wellington boots also battled the heavy rain.
Music fans will endure the downpour to see Kings of Leon, Courteneers and The Vaccines on Friday night.
Undeterred by the weather, images also show festival goers carrying luggage and tents as they arrive at the Big Feastival in Oxfordshire to find a place to camp.
Some revellers were even spotted covering themselves with a sleeping bag at the Cotswolds festival.
