Joe Biden's gaffes laid bare as White House corrected President 148 times this year
Joe Biden has been caught in many gaffes and moments of confusion, prompting concerns about his mental acuity.
US President Joe Biden has been navigating a challenging landscape of public missteps and gaffes, with White House communication staff scrambling to rectify at least 148 errors made by the 81-year-old leader since the beginning of the year.
These instances, detailed in a review of official White House records conducted by the Daily Caller, encompass a range of statements, speeches, and comments, underscoring concerns about the accuracy and clarity of the president's public communications.
The need for corrections has extended beyond simple blunders; in some cases, White House personnel have been required to significantly revise Biden's statements to align them with his intended message and public policy stances.
This process has involved altering his words entirely to convey the opposite of what was originally said, highlighting the delicate task of managing the president's public image and messaging.
Biden is known for his regular verbal stumbles and off-the-cuff remarks - he has humorously referred to himself as a “gaffe machine.” However, the frequency of these errors has raised broader questions about the president's cognitive fitness and ability to effectively lead the world's most powerful nation.
In a recent incident, Biden encountered embarrassment during a fundraiser hosted by Hollywood stars Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones at their Westchester home. While attempting to criticise his Republican rival Donald Trump, Biden mistakenly referred to the date of the infamous Capitol riots as "June 6" instead of "January 6," drawing attention to his lapse in historical accuracy.
Another notable blunder occurred during a trade union event in Washington, where Biden, reading from a teleprompter, said: “Imagine what we could do next. Four more years. Pause.”
The addition of the word "pause" was reportedly intended to prompt the crowd to chant "four more years" back at him, and meant as a cue rather than part of the speech.
These incidents have not gone unnoticed by the American public, with a majority of voters expressing concerns about Biden's age and cognitive abilities. According to recent polls, 86 percent of voters believe the president is too old to effectively serve in the Oval Office.

Questions about Biden's memory and mental acuity have been amplified by reports suggesting cognitive decline, including a special counsel's finding of his "significantly limited" memory regarding a probe into classified documents.
Biden vehemently denied these allegations during a White House briefing, asserting: “My memory is fine.”
Despite the President's reassurance, speculation about Biden's reelection prospects looms large, with concerns about his age and competency potentially bolstering the chances of his predecessor, Donald Trump, who currently holds a slight 2.5 percent lead in polling averages, according to RealClearPolitics.
