Elon Musk auctioning off Twitter memorabilia from company HQ in wake of X rebrand
Always wanted a massive, light-up bird logo for your living room? Now's your chance!
In the wake of his controversial rebrand of Twitter to X, Elon Musk is auctioning off a slew of memorabilia from the social media firm’s offices.
In total, six hundred and thirty-seven lots are set to go under the hammer next month with Heritage Global Partners in San Francisco.
As one might expect following the binning of Twitter’s blue bird, many of the items being sold feature the iconic logo.
These include a wooden, bird-shaped coffee table, a giant logo from the exterior of one of Twitter’s offices, and a light-bulb adorned “marque” logo from the firm’s “blue room”.
Also on sale is signage and decorations shaped like hashtags and at signs — as well as art from the office, including a painting of Ellen DeGeneres’ Oscar selfie.
On their website, Heritage Global Partners said: “Exciting news! Twitter rebranding online auction is now featuring a wide variety of high-quality assets.”
These, they added, included “memorabilia, art, surplus office assets, luxury furniture, electronics, and much more!”
Office furniture set to be sold off includes various items of furniture, video conferencing systems, so-called task desks, projectors and “assorted TVs and displays”.
Also going under the hammer are various breakroom appliances, including blenders, ice machines, refrigerators and a La Marzocco espresso machine worth $9,610 (£7,564) — and musical equipment such as guitars, keyboards and even a DJ booth.
While many of the items are expected to sell for high figures, the collection also includes items going for as little as just $25 (around £20).

This isn’t Mr Musk’s first “spring cleaning” at Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters — with the firm having held a similar auction back in January this year.
The previous sale saw a statue of Twitter’s famous bird logo go for a whopping $100,000 (£78,500) — which perhaps took some of the stings out of Mr Musk’s $44billion purchase of the social media platform, which has seen the firm’s value drop by more than half.
The latest auction runs from 7am PDT on September 12 to 9am PDT on September 14.
More information on the auction can be found on the Heritage Global Partners website.
