London travel CHAOS: Liverpool Street station CLOSED as cancellations spark overcrowding
COMMUTERS are struggling to get home from one of the main travel hubs in London this evening, Liverpool Street, as overcrowding and train cancellations have caused havoc.
Liverpool Street: Cancellations cause large crowds at the station
Hundreds of London commuters are struggling to get home from Liverpool Street on one of the hottest days of the year.
TFL Rail tweeted: “Severe delays between Liverpool Street and Shenfield while we fix a faulty train at Ilford”.
London Overground has warned of severe delays between Liverpool Street and Edmonton Green due to a faulty train.
Greater Anglia, who are giving reular updates on Twitter of individual trains, tweeted: “A train from our depot at #Ilford has broken down whilst departing from the depot
“As a result the two lines mostly used by TFL Rail services between Liverpool Street and Gidea Park / Shenfield are blocked between Ilford and Gidea Park.”

Hayleigh Bennett, 29, of Billericay who is struggling to get home from the train station said: “I have never seen it this bad, Liverpool Street is incredibly crowded and everyone is struggling in the heat. It is really awful.”
Other Twitter users have warned other commuters to avoid the station.
Michele Reilly tweeted a picture of the overcrowded station and said: “Avoid Liverpool Street Station #London if you can!!
Nothing moving & No trains / No announcements!”
TFL Buses have announced that London Overground Ticket Holders are being accepted on London buses between Liverpool Street and Edmonton Green due to defective trains.
To prevent overcrowding Liverpool Street station will intermittently restrict entry.

There was also disruption on Greater Anglia trains today due to a fire between stations.
A line side fire near the railway between Great Bentley and Colchester has lead to emergency services being called to the site.
This caused delays and cancellations to services running to and from Liverpool Street.
