M60 CLOSED traffic news: Rush-hour horror as woman falls from bridge
THE M60 has been closed after a woman fell from a motorway bridge, causing rush-hour chaos near Manchester.
The M60 motorway has been closed in both directions following the incident near Denton.
The motorway was closed between Junction 24 for Hyde and Junction 25 for Bredbury, sparking chaos during rush hours as hundreds of commuters were trying to go home.
Long queues started forming immediately after the closure on all sides at junction 24.
At approximately 5.40pm police had reopened the main carriageway, but one lane of the clockwise entry slip road to the M60 at junction 24 remained shut.
Police said the woman fell from the bridge at 4.30pm. Paramedics are now at the scene.
Greater Manchester Police said on Twitter: "The M60 between junction 24 and 25 is currently closed in both directions near Denton.
"A woman fell from a bridge about 4.30pm. Paramedics are currently treating her.
"Delays are expected. Please try and find an alternative route. #Tameside #M60."
Circumstances surrounding the woman's fall are still unclear.
And authorities haven't yet shared updates on the health conditions of the woman.
One hour following the reopening of the main carriageway, footages from Highways England showed traffic starting to flow freely.
The clockwise slip road remained closed until police officers carried out investigation works.
