Amy Macdonald's bitten by the pug bug after Hollywood soundtrack role
AMY Macdonald has taken her songwriting talents to Hollywood to work on Patrick, Disney’s new tale about an adorable but spoiled rotten pug.The Bishopbriggs singer kept her work on the film secret, but admitted in the run-up to its UK release tomorrow that she was delighted to be involved.
Amy, 30, said: “Patrick is a movie from Disney in the UK. It’s family fun about a gorgeous little pug.
“I’m so excited to see my name in the end credits at the cinema.”
Moviegoers will hear songs Amy recorded specially for the film, as well as a selection of her hits.
Patrick stars Jennifer Saunders, her daughter Beattie Edmondson, Game of Thrones’ Ed Skrein and Emily Atack of The Inbetweeners.
The story is about how Beattie’s character Sarah tries to cope when she has to look after Patrick, her grandmother’s dog. Jennifer plays the gran.
The project was perfect for dog-lover Amy, who regularly posts photos on social media of her beloved miniature schnauzer, Arnie.
But she doesn’t love all dogs, as she revealed last year when she hit out angrily at owners who don’t keep their aggressive pets on leads.
Amy wrote online: “Massive tip. If your dog is vicious and goes for other dogs then just put it on a lead. It’s not rocket science FFS. Sick of this c**p.
“Guy actually just told me to calm down after his dog attacked Arnie. ‘They’re only playing.’ Get a grip.”
Patrick had been due for release in August but was pushed forward by Disney due to their other big summer film, Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Amy recently got married in Las Vegas to former Rangers and Aberdeen defender Richard Foster, who now plays for St Johnstone.
