Salford stabbing: Man in 20s stabbed to death in street in Greater Manchester
POLICE have launched a murder investigation after a main his 20s was stabbed to death in Manchester this morning.
The man was found in Winster Avenue in Salford at 4.10am and was rushed to hospital.
But he died of his injuries a short time after.
The stabbing happened on a housing estate near a primary school where a white forensics tent now stands.
Greater Manchester Police said their officers are carrying out a major search for the offender.
Detective Inspector Andy Butterworth from Greater Manchester Police’s Major Incident Team said: “Firstly I would to extend my sincere condolences to the family of this man at this tragic time.
"We are working to provide them with support from specially trained family liaison officers as they come to terms with what has happened.
“We have been carrying out numerous lines of enquiry since the incident happened this morning so local residents may have noticed an increased police presence in the area.
"This is likely to continue throughout the day and I would urge anyone with concerns or information about what happened to approach one of the officers on patrol.
“We are treating this as a live murder investigation and any information that members of the public hold could prove crucial so if you think that you can help, then please contact us.”
