Star power including Alex Norton, Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill, Jack Docherty and Jonathan Watson will be relieved to know their pay cheques are secure for another year.
But their long-term future is uncertain as incoming boss Steve Carson intends to put his own stamp on what he thinks viewers to BBC Scotland should be watching.
Brought up and educated in Northern Ireland, Mr Carson assumes full control of the station’s output today after a retirement party thrown last night for his predecessor Ewan Angus.
A source said: “Mr Carson is a new broom at the BBC, and with the old guard having moved out he is making the right noises.

Appointed Head of Multi-Platform Commissioning at the broadcaster, the new chief will be in charge of BBC Scotland’s output on television, radio and online, and will be responsible for the launch of the new BBC Scotland channel this autumn.
