Police probe underway after newborn baby found dead in field in Greater Manchester
POLICE have launched an investigation after the body of a newborn baby was been discovered in a field near Rochdale, Greater Manchester.

Officers were called to the scene following the grim discovery in George Street, Heywood.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “At around 7.10am on Wednesday 4 April 2018, police were called to a field near George Street in Heywood, to reports that the body of a baby had been found.
“Officers attended and discovered the body of what is believed to be a newborn baby.
“A scene is in place while police enquiries continue.”
A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service confirmed they were called at 7.10am.
A thorough search of the area is now under way and detectives have appealed for anyone with information about the death to contact them.
