Despite the multitude of ways to watch programmes, viewing habits on Christmas Day remain as traditional as ever – with 85 per cent of people revealing they watch TV as a family and 41 per cent watching five or more hours of it, according to a poll by Radio Times.com.
Despite our dependence on other technologies, 50 per cent of the 16,000 people surveyed said the television was the one device they could not live without – double those who said smartphones.

Only four per cent said they could not survive without their laptop.
Although streaming services are often the viewing method of choice, 62 per cent of people said they preferred to watch scheduled TV on Christmas Day.

Unsurprisingly, after all the food and tipple, nearly half of us actually fall asleep in front of the box.
Tim Glanfield, the editor of RadioTimes.com, said: “Despite the popularity of digital devices and streaming services, Christmas Day remains one of the few days when the whole family still gathers to watch live TV.”
