Gun dealer sold weapons and homemade bullets connected to more than 100 crime scenes
A ROGUE gun dealer was found guilty yesterday of supplying illegal pistols and ammunition to crooks – but has left a lethal legacy on Britain’s streets.
Paul Edmunds, a self-confessed 'ammunition freak' has been found guilty of selling guns and bullets
Paul Edmunds provided weapons and homemade bullets linked to more than 100 crime scenes, including three murders.
One pistol was used in a fatal shooting at a nightclub and his bullets were even fired at a police helicopter.
Police hailed the recovery of 50,000 rounds and 17 guns as a major victory after Edmunds, 66, of Hardwicke, Gloucs, was convicted at Birmingham Crown Court.
The arms dealer was making thousands of bullets at his home in Glocestershire
But more than 200 weapons he illegally brought into Britain between 2009 and 2015 are still in circulation.
Edmunds, who told police he “didn’t give a ****” who got his guns, claimed they were obsolete antiques to sidestep import rules.
The judge at his twomonth trial, at which he denied conspiracy to supply, was “aghast” to hear of a dealer being waved through customs at Heathrow.
Mohinder Surdhar was Edmunds' middleman
Edmunds used Mohinder Surdhar, 56, of Birmingham, as his middleman to get the weapons to criminals.
Surdhar, a self-confessed “gun nut”, had admitted conspiracy to supply. Both will be sentenced later.
After the case, police said the pair were like characters from TV’s Breaking Bad “but with real victims” and a “devastating impact” on crime-hit communities.
