'Voters chose to Leave!' Remainer Anna Soubry skewered for saying UK 'fed up' of Brexit
REMAINER Anna Soubry was skewered on a live BBC panel show for saying most Britons were “fed up” of hearing about Brexit.
Anna Soubry: People are fed up of hearing about Brexit
The Tory MP, who was small business minister from 2015 to 2016, said the country now needed to build a “consensus” on Brexit after a close fought referendum on European Union membership.
Speaking on Any Questions? on the BBC, Ms Soubry was challenged by historian and journalist Tim Stanley who reminded the MP for Broxtowe that Brits had voted for Brexit.
Ms Soubry said: “We’ve just been through a General Election and one of the things that I undoubtedly picked up in my very marginal seat is that most people in this country are pretty fed up with hearing about Brexit.
“It was 48%-52% and so the trick here is to try to build a consensus and if you let me finish my sentence, I was going to say overwhelmingly people have accepted the result and they now want us to get on with it and to get a good deal.”

But Stanley hit back and said Brexit will still on the public’s minds.
He said: “They also voted for it, don’t forget that Anna.”
EU boss Jean-Claude Juncker has said he does not want a "no deal" over Brexit.
During the final press conference of the 2017 EU Summit, Mr Juncker, the European Parliament president, intially refused to speak about Brexit but quickly launched into an attack on the British Government and its lack of clarity over a 'no deal'.
He said: "Nothing on Brexit, I'm not going to say anything as there isn't anything to say on Brexit."
"In my rhetoric I would have used the word deadlock four times.
"Having had a look, only superficial, because you have to be as superficial as the British press is, our situation is not a no deal scenario.
"I don't know what that means. Nobody explained to me what a no deal was until today.
"I am not in favour of no deal, I want to have a fair deal with Britain."
