ANDREW NEIL took a savage swipe at leftwingers during a passionate speech against anti-Semitism, claiming that it is more prevalent among the left than ever before.
Andrew Neil claims there's a rise of anti-semitism in Labour
Mr Neil was speaking at the Holocaust Educational Trust Appeal Dinner where he launched his scathing attack on the left.
The journalist and commentator said that anti-semitism from the left is not just proven from academic studies but also from “casual observation”.
Mr Neil said: “What has surprised me, for I think it was entirely unpredictable, was that the new development in this area is the rise of antisemitism on the far left.
“And that is more dangerous, than the knuckle-dragging right.
Andrew Neil criticised the Labour left over antisemitism claims
“I don’t say for a moment that the far right is no longer a problem.”
During the fiery speech, Mr Neil said that antisemitism on the left is not new and has always run through parts of the “British intellectual left”.
He said: “I believe that it is more prevalent, that it is on the rise, and that it is given far too easy a pass.”
The Labour Party came under criticism last month after a report by the Campaign Against Anti-Semitism found that Labour officials are eight times more likely to be anti-semitic than officials in other parties.

Jeremy Corbyn has come under fire before for his past support of anti-Israel terrorist groups Hezbollah and Hamas.
Mr Neil also took a strike at the Labour Party Conference’s official programme, where the chair of the fringe meeting said: “We demand the right to debate ‘Holocaust: Yes or No’”.
Mr Neil said: “Why ask ‘Yes or No’ at a mainstream political party on the Holocaust? And yet he did. And the people involved are still members of the Labour Party.”
