Star Wars stamps issued: Iconic film series commemorated by Royal Mail
THE iconic film series began 40 years ago and now the Royal Mail has issued a series of eight stamps to commemorate Star Wars.
A mix of current and forthcoming characters have been immortalised on the stamps
The set features well-known characters including the droids BB-8 and R2-D2, Chewbacca and Maz Kanata.
The stamps have been designed by Malcolm Tween, the British artist, and showcase a mix of current and new characters.
The stamps also have fluorescent ink which works under UV light
Their release marks the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which opens in UK cinemas on December 14.
Each stamp has a specially created secondary scene made by Mr Tween, that includes the hero or another character, as well as iconic spaceship or vehicle.
The stamps are released in anticipation of Star Wars: The Last Jedi
The four stamps featuring the droids also contain fluorescent ink to emphasise the design features but this will only be available under a UV light.
The stamps are available from today via the Royal Mail website or at more than 7,000 post office branches across the UK.
