Rhys Jones' father says he can 'never forgive' his son's killer: 'There's been no remorse'
THE father of murdered 11-year-old Rhys Jones said yesterday he will never forgive the killer who has shown “no remorse from day one”.

Speaking on the tenth anniversary of Rhys’s death, Steve Jones said his boy’s death had been like an “atom bomb” going off in the family.
Rhys was shot by yob Sean Mercer, then 16, in a pub car park in Croxteth, Liverpool.
Mercer, who was firing at gang rivals, was later jailed for life.

Mr Jones, who will visit the grave of Everton fan Rhys this week with wife Mel, said: “We don’t forgive Mercer and his cronies.

"There's been no remorse from day one.
He added: "It was very hard to comprehend what had gone on, you just don't expect someone to be shot on a field coming back from playing football."
The family’s battle for justice was portrayed in ITV’s Little Boy Blue.

On Sunday, Mr and Mrs Jones will take part in Run for Rhys to raise money for the Rhys Jones Community Centre.
The couple said: "Losing a child in such devastating circumstances is something that no-one should ever go through.
"It's something we will never get over. You take one day at a time and learn to cope in different ways.

"It's been a long, tiring and difficult 10 years.
"But throughout the last decade we've continued to receive incredible support from the people of Liverpool and beyond.
"It means the world to us as a family, we really cannot thank people enough."
