'It's early for Diane, Ruth' This Morning hosts in hysterics as comedian imitates Abbott
COMEDIAN Jan Ravens has mocked Diane Abbot once more while teaching ITV viewers how to impersonate the shadow home secretary.
Comedian mocks Diane Abbott during This Morning appearance
Appearing on This Morning to promote her Difficult Woman show at the Edinburgh Festival, the Dead Ringers star revealed the secret to her impression of the Labour politician.
Her impersonation of the Jeremy Corbyn ally left hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford in stitches.
Speaking in the voice of Ms Abbott, she said: “Diane Abbott, isn’t it, if she can be persuaded to wake up, because this is a bit early in the morning for Diane, Ruth.”

The key to doing a Diane Abbott impression is just to imagine that you’ve just been woken up from a really nice nap
Raven then broke character and added: “The key to doing a Diane Abbott impression is just to imagine that you’ve just been woken up from a really nice nap.”
The swipe comes after the politician was mocked in a Dead Ringers sketch last month, during which the Labour frontbencher malfunctions.
It came after another car-crash interview on ITV during which she blundered her numbers while discussing Labour’s police spending promise.
Diane Abbott struggles with numbers in PAINFUL interview
Ms Abbott soon blasted ITV over the interview claiming the broadcaster “chose to carefully edit” the piece to focus on her lack of clarity on the police policy’s cost.
In a video message posted to Twitter, Ms Abbott said: “Today the Government released figures which reveal we’re seeing the biggest annual rise in crime for a decade. We also know that police numbers are at a 30-year low. This is news.
“ITV chose to carefully edit a piece of video showing me stumbling over some figures and said that was news. So for them, yes, Labour will recruit 10,000 extra police officers and we will pay for it by reversing the Tory cuts in capital gains tax.
“I hope you get some more viewers because all it has got me is hundreds of pieces of abuse including the usual death threats.”
Ms Abbott suffered several high-profile gaffes while campaigning for the recent election, something she attributed to type 2 diabetes, admitting she was “out of control” at times.
