A TRUCKER carried out a “Blue Peter” repair on his shattered windscreen using sticky tape and bits of wood.

Stunned traffic police stopped the driver on the busy A50 in Derbyshire, fearing he was a risk to himself and other motorists.
The driver was told by police he would have been arrested if he had tried to drive off in the lorry.
Police later confirmed no one had been detained.
Witnesses said the bodged repairs to the left‑hand drive vehicle looked like something from the BBC children’s show.
One said: “That looks like a Blue Peter repair all that's missing is the sticky backed plastic."

Derbyshire Police wrote on Twitter: “Driver seemed to think it was OK to repair damage with wood and branches and drive on.
All that's missing is the sticky backed plastic
“Put a stop to that before he kills someone.”
Their tweet sparked a flurry of comments, including: "Not even close to a 'temporary windscreen'."

Another person tweeted: "He should branch out into auto repairs."
A Derbyshire Constabulary spokeswoman told MailOnline: "The HGV was taken to a service station where recovery was arranged.
"If the man had tried to drive it he would have been arrested. No arrests have been made."
