'My nine-year-old could do better!' Residents outraged over cycle lane marking
THERE is such a thing as artistic licence but residents are calling for whoever marked out a new cycle lane near their homes to go back the drawing board.
Lincolnshire County Council have demanded the marking be redone
The abstract impression of a bicycle, looking like a cross between a penny farthing and a cave painting, appeared in London Road, Sleaford, Lincolnshire, at the weekend.
It is the handiwork of a company contracted by Lincolnshire Country Council who have promised to make them redo the sign after being deluged by harsh “art” critics.
Anna Calder, 37, said: “Whoever did it wasn’t exactly Banksy.
"It looks like the scrawlings of a child but I think my nine-year-old son could do better.

"If I drew that on a public highway I’d expect a hefty fine from the council for vandalism.
"They need to take a good look at the type of people they are contracting because they don’t seem to have a brain cell between them - and certainly not any artistic talent.”
Retired HR manager Paula Brown, 61, added: “We thought it was hilarious - it looks like a wonky penny farthing but it’s obviously going to cost money to rectify it.

Stunt GONE WRONG: Biker WHEELIES into a POLICE car
"There is a normal sign further along the path which has got round wheels so it’s not too difficult to do.”
A Lincolnshire County Council spokesperson said: “The markings were painted by a utility company that had been working in the area.
“We will be asking them to return and replace them using the correct template.”
